which will be held in Porto-Vecchio, Corsica (FRANCE) 6-11, June 2004
We hope you will agree that the island of Corsica will provide a highly attractive setting for this meeting.


 

The Symposium is dedicated to all aspects of Organic Radicals.

Since this is a busy time in Corsica and the conference is likely to be oversubscribed, we must finalize our plans well in advance.

CORSICA

The island of corsica is situated in the gulf of Genoa and offers the most impressive scenic from the western Mediterranean. A mountain Island set between sea and sky with peaks soaring to over 6000 feet. Along its 625 miles of seacoast is a succession of yacht harbors, wild creeks, fine sandy beaches and spas. Anyone talking about Corsica soon has to accept that the use of superlatives is unavoidable. The greeks named it "Kallisté", the most beautiful.

Corsica is a land of immense contrasts, beauty and character. On these attributes were built its reputation for friendliness.

The History : From prehistory to the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte Corsica has been a land stepped in History where culture and tradition transport the visitor back through the ages to its 8.000 years-old origins.

Gastronomy : Nature in Corsica is very important in local cooking brought down from centuries. Rustic and flavored it proposes delicious food, succulent combinations between sea and soil products. It was the greeks who brought the wine to Corsica 2500 years ago. The island has today 9 guarnteed vintages (AOC) and over a hundred deserve this classification.

Climate and clothing : At the beginning of June, the weather in Corsica is usually warm and pleasant. The average daytime temperatures vary from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. Weather should be perfect at this time of year in Corsica for swimming. Participants are advised to bring light clothes and bathing suits.

CONFERENCE SITE

Porto-Vecchio is a very small and touristic seaport town in the extreme south of Corsica. It is also an exciting place to discover the forest and high mountain, most spectacular beaches, the Italian island of Sardinia and numerous other places of interest (Prehistoric relics, Greek and Roman sites, religious monuments, fortified villages, ...). So, it will be an enjoyable and efficient place for this meeting.

The meeting will take place in the Cultural Center called "Espace Jean-Paul de Rocca Serra" which is located downtown Porto-Vecchio. It is a very recent and well equipped building where an 350 seats auditorium proposes all the equipment for audio and video projections.
